It’s a bright yellow start to the week with the entire province now in the Yellow Level of recovery as of 11:59 last night.

The number of active cases of COVID has dropped significantly in the past couple of weeks. Hospitalization numbers have been low as well. As of yesterday there are 35 active cases in the province with three people in hospital – two intensive care.

The positive downward trial comes after a rough start to the year following the Christmas – New Year period when cases soared. The lower half of the province was placed in the RED Level while the Edmundston region ended up in LOCKDOWN to control a severe outbreak of COVID in that region.

The Yellow Level brings an easing of some restrictions including expansion of your “Steady 10” circle of family and friends to a “Steady 15” including those in other health zones in the province. Sports teams can resume league play with an approved operational plan. Masks must be word in public spaces including retail outlets – malls – and public transit. You can get full details on the Yellow Level guidelines here.

Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – is advising caution especially with confirmed cases of the highly contagious U-K variant in the province.
