One person is dead and four others are shaken but safe after two incidents involving all terrain vehicles going through ice yesterday in the region.
The first call came in yesterday morning for a partially submerged ATV on lake ice at the end of Sands Road in the Baxters Corner area. RCMP and fire crews recovered the body of a 62-year old Rothesay man from the water. The investigation is now focusing on determining the exact cause of his death.
Later yesterday – a call came in about four people on ATVs going through the river ice near Long Island. All four managed to scramble to shore on Long Island where they were eventually picked up by rescue crews.
