The city has issued a revised Request for Proposals for landscaping of public areas between Market Square and the proposed Fundy Quay commercial – residential development on the former Coast Guard property. The request also includes extension of the Harbour Passage along the waterfront in the area.
The changes in this bid call and one for preparing the site for development reflect changes in timing of federal funding programs. The bids must be received by February 11th.
Some of the construction work related to preparing the site is scheduled for this year including repairs and a raising of the height of the seawall in the area. The city has entered into an agreement with Fundy Quay Developments – a subsidiary of Saint John based Elias Management Group for a mixed commercial and residential development on the site. The company is also partnering with Historica Properties in the redevelopment of the City Hall building.
