The Saint John Tool Library has opened a new training centre at its Princess Street location. The new centre will provide entry level training for up to 50 people who are facing challenges with employment opportunities. Training will focus on industries where there is a major demand for people including roofing – concrete work – general construction – and drywall and crack filling.

Saint John companies were surveyed with results forming a similar message – “If we could find people who will show up on time, work a full day, and knew had a basic set of construction skills, We’d hire them right away!”

The Tool Library says the curriculum has been co-developed with tradespeople – New Brunswick Community College Instructors – and recruiters. The trainees will take a five day job readiness program and successful participants will be immediately connected to partner companies.
