A significant face lift for Dominion Park and Beach is in the offing if a citizens group has it way and the financial backing. The Dominion Park Community Association rolled out its concept during a brief virtual public unveiling yesterday.

Association Chair – Derek Chaisson – says the concept follows 18 months of public consultations to determine the vision neighbourhood residents had for the area – and – working with City Hall staff and the Glenn Group to finalize the concept.

The proposal includes an elevated sea wall viewing platform – enhanced seating around the beach area – new canteen and washroom building – and a welcome/sunset viewing plaza in the heart of the beach. Chaisson says they now have to determine how to phase the development and finalize cost estimates then go looking for funding partners.

Chaisson says they are looking for additional feedback on the community vision and are hoping to have conversations with residents on Saturday during the annual beach clean-up event beginning at 9am.
