Saint John’s police chief is stepping down. The Police Commission has confirmed Chief Stephan Drolet will step down February 20th for “personal reasons.” Drolet took over the top cop job in February of last year.

Drolet had been with the RCMP for 27-years and was serving as British Columbia’s deputy criminal operations officer prior to arriving here in the city.

Deputy Chief Tony Hayes will lead the department while the Commission searches for a replacement – that search will begin immediately.
