(UPDATE – Environment Canada has lifted the “Severe Thunderstorm Watch” for the greater Saint John region)

A “Severe Thunderstorm Watch” has been issued for the Saint John area. Environment Canada says those storms may be capable of producing strong wind gusts – heavy rain – and hail.

The federal agency says “Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
