NB Premier Blaine Higgs

With the sharp increase in the daily case count and total number of active cases – both Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Jennifer Russell and Premier Blaine Higgs – are warning the Moncton – Saint John – and Fredericton Central regions could be joining the Edmundston region in going to the Red Level with tighter restrictions on activities and movements.

As of today – there are 292-active cases of COVID across the province. The Edmundston zone has the highest number with 76-active cases. Not far behind is the Moncton region with 63-active cases followed by the Fredericton Central region with 57 and the Saint John region with 55-active cases.

Both Russell and Higgs say a decision on moving those zones to Red will be made within a day or two. Russell also says they are investigating a couple of case that may be linked to community transmission – and – that is one of the triggers for moving to Red.

Premier Higgs is warning if we continue going in the current direction – it could lead to a complete lockdown.
