A significant jump in the number of COVID cases in the past 24-hours – 36 reported today including 24 in the Edmundston area. Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – says it’s the largest single day increase since the pandemic began last March.

Russell says eleven of the cases in the Edmundston region can be traced to a workplace environment – Nadeau Poultry. However – to get a handle on the situation – the Edmundston region is going to the Red Level at midnight tonight with much tighter restrictions.

Russell also warns the Moncton – Saint John – and Fredericton Central regions are on the cusp of going to the Red Level as well.

(Update) Four of the cases today are here in the Saint John region. There are 292-active cases across the province including 55-here in Saint John. Only one person is in hospital as of today. There have been 12-COVID related deaths since the pandemic was declared last March.
