
A bump in the number of confirmed COVID cases today – Public Health is reporting six new cases around the province. Two of the cases are in the Saint John region – a person in their twenties and a person in their thirties with both self isolating. Those cases are under investigation. The other cases include one in the Fredericton region which is travel related – one in the Edmundston region under investigation and two in the Miramichi region which are linked to previous cases.
Four people are listed as recovered since yesterday with 35 active cases now around the province including the two here in the Saint John area. Three people are in hospital – two in intensive care. The COVID related death toll stands at 28 since the pandemic was declared a year ago.
Meantime – Public Health reports at total of 1601 tests have been conducted on asymptomatic people at mass clinics in Miramichi over the past two days. The samples have been sent to the microbiology lab at the Georges Dumont Hospital in Moncton. It will take 24 to 48 hours to process the tests and provide results. Due to demand and long lines – a third clinic was scheduled for today.
