As people start to declare their candidacy for Common Council seats. – Mayor Don Darling is continuing to encourage more people to become involved.
In an interview with “Gary Mac Unfiltered” – Darling says he thinks low voter turnout in the past is related to people feeling they are not being represented by municipal government. He says council should reflect the growing diversity of the city.
The mayor says he is willing to talk with and offer advice to any one thinking about offering for council.
On another issue – Darling says he is concerned about candidates making all types of promises without any knowledge or basis for their claims – and – he plans to “fact check” those promises to make sure voters are properly informed.
