Three Moncton RCMP officers and a cellblock guard are in self isolation after exposure to a positive case of COVID-19 while on duty. They were exposed while responding to a report of an intoxicated man yesterday. Police say officers were wearing masks at the time. The man was arrested and taken to the detachment where he was placed in a cell.

At that point the officers learned the prisoner had recently tested positive for COVID-19. Police say the officers took immediate precautions to limit exposure and risk including sanitizing of equipment and self isolation for those involved. At this time – the Mounties say it doesn’t appear any public exposure occurred.

Late last month a Moncton Mountie tested positive for COVID-19 after being exposed to the virus while responding to a disturbance call where one of the individuals involved had tested positive for COVID.
