Nominations for the May 10 elections opened last Monday and the list of candidates who have filed their nomination papers is growing.

On the municipal front here in Saint John – two candidates have filed nomination papers for Mayor – Donna Reardon and Darrell Bastarache. Mel Vincent has announced but as of close of business on Friday – he has not filed nomination papers. Incumbent Don Darling is not re-offering.

For the two Councilor At Large seats – five people have filed their nomination papers including incumbent Gary Sullivan. Others filing are Brent Harris – Dean Secord – Guy Verna – and Arty Watson.

For the two seats in Ward 1 – incumbent Blake Armstrong has filed along with Joanna Killen – Elizabeth Rowe – and Christopher Withers.

For the two seats in Ward 2 – incumbent John MacKenzie has filed along witth Larry Harlow – Barry Ogden – Jocelyn Stevens – and Russell Wilson.

In Ward 3 – Barbara Ellernberg – Gerald Lowe – and Adam Salesse have filed in bids for the two seats.

Nominations close for all positions including District Education Councils and Regional Health Authorities on Friday – April 09th at 2pm.

And in Ward 4 – interest is high for the two seats with incumbent Ray Strowbridge filing as well as Lynaya Astephen – Daryl Bishop – Christopher Daigle – Gina Hooley – Kimberley Hughes – Daniel O’Conner – Paula Radwan – and Greg Stewart.
