A storm that has caused chaos in parts of the U-S is moving into our region this morning with a mixture of winter weather prompting a freezing rain warning for our area.

Snow will begin this morning changing to ice pellets then to freezing rain by this afternoon into this evening – and – possibly mixed with rain later tonight or early tomorrow morning as the system moves out of the region. Up to 15 cms of snow and ice pellets are expected before the change to freezing rain. Winds will be gusting up to 40 km/h by this evening and temperatures will rise to around minus 2 before dropping back tonight giving a feels like temperature in the minus 12 range.

Northern parts of the province are under a snowfall warning with up to 20 cms of snow expected.

Schools are in our region are closed. A number of other programs and offices are closing as well – so best to call ahead before leaving your home.
