Travel on main highways in the province is being discouraged due to storm conditions.
The RCMP says driving conditions on Routes 1 and 2 are extremely poor and travel is not recommended.
Here in the Saint John area it appears the change to ice pellets happened a sooner than expected. We are still under a freezing rain warning with that precipitation expected to begin by early afternoon.
Schools are closed and a number of businesses have not opened or are now closing early due to the weather conditions – call ahead before heading out especially as conditions deteriorate.
UPDATE: The UNBSJ campus is closing at noon and there won’t be in-person classes. The HWK Commons will be closed as well. And the city’s Customer Service Centre will close to walk-ins at 1pm. Phone support at 658-4455 will continue to be available.
