The earth shook yesterday in a remote area of the province. Earthquakes Canada reports an earthquake mid-way between Plaster Rock and Miramichi around 4:20 yesterday afternoon. It registered 2.6 in magnitude. The quake was located about 10 kms below the surface.
There are no reports of damage and the federal agency says none would be expected.
The area is no stranger to earthquakes. A number of strong quakes ranging between 4.1 and 5.7 have been recorded in the area since 1855 in addition to smaller rumbles like yesterday.
