Public Health says another case of the COVID U-K variant has been confirmed in the province. It is a person in the Edmundston region who originally tested positive for COVID earlier this month. A sample was sent to the national lab in Winnipeg which confirmed the variant. It is the sixth case of the U-K variant in the province.
Another resident of the Manoir Belle Vue long term care home in Edmundston has passed away of underlying complications including COVID-19. The person was in their eighties. That brings to 26 the number of COVID related deaths since the pandemic was declared last year.
One new case is being reported today in the Edmundston area and is a close contact of a previous case. Currently we have 84 active cases.
