Following a spike in cases over the weekend – the Fredericton Central and Moncton zones are now the COVID hot beds in the province. As of yesterday – there were 18-active cases in the Fredericton region while the Moncton Zone was reporting 12. Ten new cases were reported on Saturday – all in the Fredericton Zone while yesterday 7-new cases were reported with 6 of them in the Moncton region.
The Edmundston Zone has 5-active cases after an outbreak at the local hospital last month forced the area to the Orange Level of restrictions. It was returned to Yellow just before Christmas. The Saint John region has just one active case.
There are now 41-active cases in the province with one person in hospital in intensive care. Nine COVID related deaths have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic.
