A Health Department spokesman confirms there is a suspected 4th case of the U-K variant in the province. Bruce Macfarlane says a close contact of a previous U-K variant confirmed case has tested positive for COVID-19. He says it is suspected they have the variant as well.
Macfarlane says a sample has been sent to the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg for confirmation. In the meantime – he says “the individual is being treated as if they have the variant.”
On Monday – Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Jennifer Russell confirmed three cases of the U-K variant in the province – two here in the Saint John region and one in the Miramichi region. Two of the cases were related to international travel and one was related to travel within Canada.
