The Saint John Theatre Company’s proposal to convert the former Sydney Street court house into a performing arts centre goes before Common Council Monday night. The plans were unveiled last week and include a large contemporary design addition to the rear of the heritage building.
The proposal requires a “site specific” amendment to the city’s Heritage Conservation Areas By-law. The proposed development was given unanimous approval by the city’s Heritage Development Board on Wednesday.
City Manager John Collin is recommending council set a public hearing date of March 08th to consider the By-law amendment.
