The Ethos Ridge retirement community proposal for Sandy Point Road is expected to receive final approval at Common Council tonight. Council has already given first and second readings to the required Municipal Plan and zoning changes with a number of conditions with third and final reading scheduled tonight.
During a five hour Council public hearing on the proposal March 29th – a number of residents from the neighbouring Pelton Road area spoke against the proposal expressing concerns about traffic safety – drainage – impact on wells – and loss of a wetland area. Developer Scott Walton says revisions to the proposal address a number of concerns raised by residents. He says the building has been placed in area of the property that would minimize digging and blasting.
The Ethos Ridge development would see 120 luxury retirement units constructed on a site at 2100 Sandy Point Road. Total cost of the development is estimated in the 50 million dollar range.
