If you notice it’s a little darker than usual between 8:30 and 9:30 tonight – it’s not your imagination. People around the world are marking “Earth Hour” tonight at 8:30 local time. It is a time when we switch off all unnecessary lights to raise awareness of the environmental issues facing our planet.

It started as a “lights off” in Sydney – Australia in 2007 and has grown to a world wide effort with the support of the World Wildlife Federation and various national and local environmental groups like the Atlantic Coast Action Program Saint John. You can also find a blog post by ACAP Saint John staff member Jamylynn McDonald on sustainable household energy consumption here.
