Nine new cases of COVID have been confirmed in the province since yesterday. Public Health says all cases are in the Edmundston region – and – all but one are contacts of a previously confirmed case. The other case is under investigation.
Three people are listed as recovered since yesterday. The number of active cases is 147 with 115 of them in the Edmundston region which remains in the RED Level. Currently there are 7 active cases here in the Saint John region. Ten people are now in hospital with five of them in intensive care units. The number of COVID related deaths remains at 30.
Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – says “Admissions to hospitals and intensive care units in our province are continuing to increase. While they are manageable now, it will take everyone’s ongoing commitment and efforts to keep them from continuing to rise. Please keep everyone safe. Please keep following public health measures even if you have been vaccinated.”
