Tonight – social media posts in the Edmundston area are focused on the death of a man diagnosed with COVID. The 40 year old man was said to be in the intensive care unit at the Edmundston hospital.
We have reached out to the Department of Health for confirmation – but – have not received a response. The Edmundston region has been dealing with a severe outbreak of the virus and its U-K variant and is currently in the RED Level.
The Vitalite Health Network says the Edmundston hospital is at capacity and patients requiring intensive care will be sent to the Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. Other patients requiring hospitalization will be sent to smaller hospitals in nearby communities.
