The controversial Ethos Ridge retirement community development has been given the green light by Common Council.
Councillors gave third and final reading to the require Municipal Plan and Zoning By-law amendments clearing the way for the development to proceed. The approvals carry a number of conditions for the development to address concerns expressed by nearby neighbours at the City’s Planning Advisory Committee and a five hour public hearing before Common Council.

Developer Scott Walton told Council at the public hearing that revisions to the proposal address a number of concerns raised by residents. The Ethos Ridge development would see 120 luxury retirement units constructed on a site at 2100 Sandy Point Road. Total cost of the development is estimated in the 50 million dollar range.
