If you are prone to being on the receiving end of a parking ticket on a regular basis – you may want to really work on breaking that habit.

Common Council is being asked to approve a $10 increase in the cost of a “parking meter violation.” That would bring the ticket cost to $30 if paid immediately. If you fail to pay within 16 days – the fine will increase by $15 and if not paid within 30 days another $15 charge will be added. The same increases would be added to other city traffic by-law violations.

In a report to council – city staff says the increases would be us inline with charges in Moncton – Fredericton – and Halifax. Council will deal with the item Monday night.
