A heads up for city residents – we are expected to receive heavy rainfall tomorrow into Good Friday. The forecast is predicting rainfall amounts in the 40 to 50 mm range. And the City’s Emergency Management group is warning us to be prepared.
The Saint John E-M-O is recommends having your 72 hour home emergency kits ready due to the possibility of localized flooding and power outages.
Public Works and Transportation crews are preparing trucks with barricades and signage in case of road closures due to flooding or washouts. Crews are also checking catch basins and drainage gutters to make sure they are clear of debris. You are also being asked to check catch basins near your home and clear any obstructions.
To report flooding – call the City’s Customer Service Centre at 658-4455. To report downed power lines or outages call Saint John Energy at 658-5252 or file a report online. And for emergencies only – call 9-1-1.
