The recently elected Common Council will deal with a major proposal by J-D Irving to develop its Dever Road rail yard into a large intermodal transportation centre with future potential for a so called “Auto Port.” A public hearing is on the Council Agenda for tomorrow night with the hearing set to begin at 6:30.
The City’s Planning Advisory Committee is recommending approval of required zoning changes and Section 59 Amendments with conditions to meet concerns of residents about noise and traffic. City staffers are also recommending Council proceed with first and second readings of the required changes – but – with a number of conditions attached.
The proposal includes a park for use by residents in the area.
