A standoff on the Lower West side has ended. Police surrounded a Ludlow Street home around 2:00 this morning after receiving a call about a man with a weapon. They called in the Tactical Unit and set up a perimeter around the house and began negotiating with the man.
The Police tactical squad moved in around 11:30 this morning and took a 50-year old man into custody. We are told he has been transported to hospital to be checked out after police used flash grenades during the take down. So far there is no word on charges.
No other injuries were reported. Streets in the area have been re-opened.
