
Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – has confirmed the death of a person in their fifties who experienced a rare blood clot following vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine. The person received the vaccine in mid-April and developed symptoms 17 days later. They went to an emergency room and were hospitalized.
Public Health is reporting 15 new case – one in the Moncton region which is under investigation. There are 9 new cases in the Fredericton region – 5 are contacts of previously confirmed cases – 3 are travel related – and 1 is under investigation. There are 4 cases in the Bathurst region with all 4 travel related and they are isolating out of province. There is also a case in the Miramichi which is a contact of a previously confirmed case.
Since yesterday – Public Health reports 5 people recovered and the number of active cases is 127 including 19 in the Saint John region. Seven people are in hospital – 6 in New Brunswick including 2 in intensive care and 1 in intensive care out of province. The COVID related death toll stands at 43.
