Public Health is reporting another COVID death in the Edmundston region. A person in their sixties has died as a result of the virus bringing the COVID death toll to 32. It’s the second COVID death in the region this week.

Eight new cases have been confirmed in the province since yesterday – most in the Edmundston region where an outbreak fuelled by the U-K variant continues to rage on. Six of the cases are in the Edmundston region – three are contacts of a previously confirmed case while the other three are under investigation. One case has been confirmed in the Moncton region – which is under investigation – and one case has been confirmed in the Fredericton River Valley region which is travel related.

Public Health says 13 people have been listed as recovered since yesterday. We now have 140 active cases in the province including 4 here in the Saint John region. The Edmundston region is dealing with 113 active cases. Nineteen people are in hospital including 13 in intensive care.
