
The federal and provincial governments are teaming up to help low income working families with their rental costs.
The Canada – New Brunswick Housing Benefit will consist of a short term benefit for up to three years of between $300 and $475 per month depending on factors like household income and location. The program will support close to 6600 households over the next 7 years and cost 98.3 million dollars to be shared by both levels of government.
The Department of Social Development is working on finalizing the application process – initially eligible families will be identified based on the current subsidized housing wait list. More information on the application process will be provided soon.
