Rising COVID numbers in Nova Scotia have forced the cancellation of an international tournament next month. The Nova Scotia provincial government has cancelled the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship scheduled for Halifax and Truro.

Hockey Canada says it’s disappointed with the decision but understand it was made with the health and safety of participants and the community at large as top priority. Hockey Canada says it remains committed to hosting the championship this year and will explore “all options to host the event in the coming months if it is deemed safe to do so.”
