RCMP say an autopsy has been scheduled to help positively identify a woman whose body was found in the water near St Andrews yesterday afternoon.

Police say they were called by a kayaker who discovered the body in the water along a rocky area on Navy Island near the town. The St George and St Andrews Fire departments assisted the Mounties with the recovery of the body.

The autopsy will also determine the exact cause of death. RCMP have not indicated if yesterday’s discovery is linked to a case involving a St Andrews woman who went missing in early December. The search for 68 year old Wilma Catherine Montgomery was scaled back after information was received indicating she likely had gone into the water.
