Some social media posts have been blasting the Parking Commission over its announcement that beginning May 01st – residential parking permits will be available for purchase through the Hotspot parking app. Concerns have been raised about seniors and others who don’t own smart phones or credit cards not being able to pay for their parking permits.
It appears the social media concerns are misguided. In a Tweet last night – Parking Commission member Nick Cameron says the Hotspot app is being added as a convenience – you will still be able to pay for your permit at City Hall.
In a news release – the Parking Commission also says you will no longer have to display the hanging authorization tag in your vehicle. As of May 01st – residential parking enforcement checks will be done by scanning your license plate.
