Air Canada service through Saint John is now guaranteed to begin by June 01st thanks to a deal announced tonight between the Federal Government and the airline.
The deal to help the ailing airline includes low interest loans – guarantees of no further layoffs by Air Canada – refunds for passengers who had flights cancelled or cancelled flights because of the declaration of the pandemic last year – and restrictions on dividends – share buybacks – and restrictions on senior executive bonuses.
With the deal for Canada’s largest air carrier now in place – other carriers are expected to finalize agreements with Ottawa to prop up the country’s airline industry.
