Restrictions in the Edmundston and Moncton zones being eased at midnight

The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health says restrictions in the Edmundston and Moncton zones will be eased effective at midnight tonight.

Dr Jennifer Russell says the Edmundston region will move from a LOCKDOWN to the RED Level. The move means more businesses can re-open if they have an COVID operational plan in place. It also means schools will re-open beginning tomorrow.

Meantime – the go ahead has been given for the Moncton region to move from the RED Level to the Orange Level at midnight tonight. Among other things – the move allows family bubbles to expand with a “Steady 10” group of family or friends.

Health Minister Dorothy Shephard says the goal is have all of the province at the Orange Level as soon as possible. But both Shephard and Russell say we will be in the Orange Level for some time as a front line defence against the COVID variants especially with delays in the supply of COVID vaccines.
