Financial assistance is being available for those affected by flooding due to heavy rainfall between November 30th and December 2nd. The provincial program will provide assistance for eligible uninsurable damage and losses that “threaten the health and safety of individuals, municipalities and small businesses.”
The maximum for structural repairs to private homes is $160,000 while small businesses and non-profit organizations can receive up to $500,000. The province says the assistance is not a replacement for insurance and is designed to cover only the cost of essential items.
The Sussex area was particularly hard hit by flooding after over 200-millimetres fell in parts of the province over a three day period. Details about the program can be found here.
