Be prepared to hand over a little more money when your power bill arrives next month. Saint John Energy says all classes of electrical charges will increase 1.8 percent effective March 31st.

The city owned utility says the increase stems from a provincial Energy and Utilities Board decision allowing NB Power to increase its rates – including wholesale rates – by 1.8 percent at the end of the month. Saint John Energy buys its power from NB Power.

Saint John Energy also says water heater rentals will increase by an average of 43 cents per month at the same time.
