Suspect in attempted car jacking

Saint John Police are on the lookout for a suspect in connection with an attempted car jacking on Tuesday. It happened around 1:30 in the afternoon at a west side mall parking lot.

Police say an elderly woman was parking her car and beginning to exit when a man with a weapon leaned in and attempted to take the vehicle. She refused and managed to escape to a nearby store where she alerted security. The woman was shaken by the event but is ok.

Police say the suspect is described as a caucasian man – 5 feet 10 inches tall – weighing 150 pounds and between 25-30 years of age. He was wearing a black ballcap – t-shirt – mask – and reflective sunglasses at the time of the incident.
