The COVID Alert phone app doesn’t appear to be making a significant contribution to the battle against the virus here in Atlantic Canada. The app has reached 5.9-million downloads across the country with 13,700-people entering one time keys given to them if they have been diagnosed with COVID to alert other people.

Federal Health officials say privacy and security prevent them from identifying the number of downloads in New Brunswick. They referred us to the provincial Health Department for the number of keys issued. newsysj.ca asked the province for the numbers. Spokesman Shawn Berry tells us the information they receive from the federal level has the Atlantic provinces grouped together. He says 82-one time keys have been claimed in Atlantic Canada.
