The Kingston Peninsula area has been a target for break and enter thieves over the past couple of months. The Mounties say they have received a dozen reports of break and enters into homes – cottages – and buildings in the Carters Point – Erbs Cove – Bayswater – Kingston – Kiersteadville – and Summerville areas since September 01 of last year.

Police say the crimes have occurred at different times of the day and night with the criminals forcing their way into the properties. In most cases the properties weren’t occupied at the time of the break-ins. Stolen property includes firearms – generators – money – copper – jewellery – prescription medications – household items – and electronics.

The Mounties are asking anyone with information to contact either the Grand Bay-Westfield or Hampton detachments. They are also reminding you to make sure you secure your home before leaving and remove valuables from plain sight.
