A new case of COVID has been confirmed at the Shannex retirement complex in Millidgeville. The company says an employee working in the quarantine area was identified after testing on Friday.

The company says it proves the importance of retesting due to the length of the incubation period for the virus. More tests on residents and staff are planned for tomorrow.

In a release – the company says there are 10-residents in the quarantine area. It confirms one of the residents in that area has passed away but the death is not related to COVID complications. As of yesterday – there have been 19-confirmed cases of COVID at the complex – eleven residents – seven employees – and one non-Shannex worker. Five Shannex employees have recovered and been cleared to return to work this week.
