The large piles of rock on the Lower Cove port property are beginning to disappear. The 55,000 tonnes of rock is being moved by truck over to the west side to be used in the expansion of the container terminal.

Galbraith Construction is hauling the rock by truck – an operation that is scheduled week days between 7 in the morning and 7 in the evening while on Saturdays the trucks will run between 7 and noon.

The Port says the transporting of the rock is expected to take approximately three weeks “depending on round trip haul time.” The $205,000,000 modernization and expansion project is scheduled for completion in 2023.
