Monday is Civic Elections Day across the province with the exception of the Edmundston region. The vote covers Municipal Councils – District Education Councils – and Regional Health Authorities. Here in Saint John – 51 candidates are vying for the 11 spots around the Council horseshoe at City Hall.

Four of those candidates offering for the leadership position of Mayor. Last month – newsysj.ca sought to interview those candidates. Two of the 4 accepted. The interviews with Donna Reardon and Mel Vincent are available here. Candidate Howard Yeomans indicated he didn’t have access to video conferencing – but – you can read about his campaign here. Candidate Darrell Bastarache declined our invitation.

A reminder – while we are voting on Monday – the results will not be released until the evening of Tuesday – May 25th due to the delay of the elections in the Edmundston region brought on by the recent COVID lockdown in that area.
