A 40-year old Saint John man has entered guilty pleas to 5 counts of theft of catalytic converters. Shawn James appeared in court yesterday to enter the pleas and is due back before the judge on June 08th for sentencing. He remains behind bars.

Saint John Police say they have been dealing with a rash of catalytic converter thefts in recent months. Just last month the Major Crime Unit seized a trailer load of the converters prized for the precious metals such as platinum or platinum like material such as palladium or rhodium demanding high prices.

The investigation into the trailer load of catalytic converters remains active.
