Following Friday’s announcement of federal and provincial funding for the Fundy Quay development on the former Coast Guard site – Common Council tonight is being asked to approve the city’s share of funding. If approved – the city will be contributing just over $9,000,000 to help fund preparation and clean-up of the site – extension and upgrading of the Boardwalk and Harbour Passage in the area – and an update to Loyalist Plaza. Saint John based Fundy Quay Developments is planning a mixed residential and commercial concept for the waterfront area with total investment expected to exceed $300,000,000.

Council is also expected to approve a recommendation from its Finance Committee to move forward with a 1 cent tax cut in the 2022 budget.
