Public Health is reporting confirmation of another COVID case here in the Saint John region. The case involves a person in their sixties who is a contact of a previously confirmed case. The number of active cases in the Saint John region now sits at 8.
Three other cases have been confirmed since yesterday – all in the Edmundston region – and – all are contacts of previously confirmed cases.
Public Health says 17 people have been listed as recovered since yesterday while 18 people are in hospital with 13 of them in intensive care. The number of active cases is now 132 while the COVID death toll remains at 33.
Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – is making another appeal for people to remain vigilant. She says “With new and more contagious variants arriving, it is important to take steps to keep yourself and your community safe. Follow Public Health guidelines and arrange to be tested if you have any symptoms.”
