The Fort La Tour Development Authority is turning to the community to help in the aftermath of a fire that caused extensive damage to one of the buildings just weeks before the official opening of the site.
The Authority says the fire means a “loss of anticipated revenues that were being counted on to cover the remaining construction and start-up expenses.” The group says there are also unanticipated costs associated with enhanced security – fencing – and other fire related expenses.
The group will accept all donations and any donations $20 or over will receive a tax receipt. Donations can be made here. The fire has been deemed “suspicious” and Saint John Police continue an investigation into the blaze.
