
The 2021 forest fire season opens today and will end October 31st. Last year – 462 fires burned 1356 hectares of forest land in the province.
Under the Forest Fires Act – if you start a fire – you are responsible for it. If the fire gets out of control you may be liable for the costs of fighting the blaze and/or damage to another person’s property. You could also face criminal penalties for violating burning regulations.
